Jackie Turner

Elva "Jackie" Turner, 89, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014. Jackie was born in McMinn County, Tenn., and was a resident of Chattanooga for nearly 70 years. She was a devoted lifelong Baptist, most recently, was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Jackie retired from Senior Neighbors in 1996. While she had many accomplishments in her life, she was first and foremost a loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Turner; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Parrott; a sister and three brothers. Survivors include her son, Roger "Jerry" Swafford; two daughters, Janis Turner and Dianne Pollard; brother, Dewey Parrott; grandchildren, Ronald G. "Chip" Pollard, Jr. and Cristy Swafford; great-grandchild, Brooke Anders; and several loving nieces and nephews. Special thanks are extended to all the compassionate caregivers who have participated in Jackie's care over the past few years, especially Dr. Lizelle Jurgens. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. today and 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. Funeral services are 3 p.m. Monday also at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace with Rev.
