Jim Arthur

James "Jim" Russell Lowell Arthur, of Hixson, passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014. He was 86 years old. Jim served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He retired from DuPont and was a member of Hixson First Baptist Church. Jim was a 60-year member with Sumac Masonic Lodge #55 F&AM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland and Elsie Alfreda Arthur; brother, George and sister, Louise Hill. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maggie Jane Arthur; daughters, Deb (Mike) ORear and Pat Brownell; son, Russ Arthur; brother, Steve (Becky) Arthur; grandsons, Jason (Marcy) Everett, Kris (Amanda) ORear and Brandon (Sarah) ORear; granddaughter, Elizabeth Brownell; great-granddaughters and also known as "Papaws Dream Team", Maggie, Kamyrn and Gaby ORear; several nieces, nephews, in-laws and other extended family members. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 12, 2014, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Services for Jim will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Terry Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Jason Everett, Kris and Brandon ORear, Terry McDonald, Todd Wheeler and Donnie Rush serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are The Elwood Suttles Sunday School Class, Hixson First Baptist Church and the Cherokee Chapter of National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF).
