Katherine Mathis Light, 78, of Chattanooga, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at her home. Katherine was born in Piedmont, Ala., but had lived in Chattanooga most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Tom and Martha L. Mathis. She was retired as executive secretary of Winer & Associates. Katherine was preceded in death by three sisters, Lona Mae Boling, Josephine Lind and Lois Smith; and two brothers, Ollie Brown, Tommy S. Mathis; and great-granddaughter, Finley Grace Rogers. Survivors include her husband, Jerry Light; son, Scott (Carol) Hawkins, Geraldine Ala.; granddaughter, Jade (Ryan) Rogers; great-grandson, Rook Rogers, all of Scottsboro; son, Rick (Terrye) Hawkins, Naples, Fla.; daughters, Kimberly (Wayne) Eddingfield, Ringgold; Terry (Steve) Roberts and Kathy (Randy) Sain, both of Chattanooga; sister, Bobbie M. (Ed) Fitch; two brothers, Bill Brown and C.D. (Mary) Mathis, all of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Pat McKenna officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park with nephews, Tommy Mathis, John Bennudriti, Jimmy Mathis, Eddie Fitch Jonathan Fitch and Waymon Brown serving as pallbearers.
