Grace Lydia Owens, 98 of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at the Hospice Center of Chattanooga. She attended Concord Baptist Church. Grace was born in Chicago and lived a colorful life, meeting her husband of 68 years, W. Lester Owens, in the circus and working with him as a trapeze artist, performing throughout the county, including Australia and New Zealand before they settled in Chattanooga in 1948. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leck; one sister, Laverne; four brothers, Elvin, Berthel, Mevin and an unnamed infant and by a beloved grandson, Barry. Survivors include her two sons, Michael and Patrick; grandson, Timothy; four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Concord Baptist Church, with Rev. David King officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
