Nancy Tidwell Spence, 67, of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014. She had lived in the Atlanta area for many years before moving to Chattanooga in 1989 and attended East Chattanooga Church of God. She was previously employed with Health South as a CNA for many years and enjoyed cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and loving her animals. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Vernon Tidwell; and sister, Sandra Deason. Survivors include her mother, Edna Tidwell, of Irwinton, Ga.; her loving husband of more than 46 years, Jerry Spence, of Chattanooga; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and (Trena) Spence, of Soddy-Daisy, and Jonathan and (Brooke) Spence, of Ringgold, Ga.; three brothers, Vernon "Bo" Tidwell, of Gray, Ga., Charles Tidwell, of Cumming, Ga. and Steve Tidwell, of Eatonton, Ga.; three sisters, Mary Wood, of Macon, Ga., and Pamela Thompson and Gloria Tidwell, both of Irwinton, Ga.; four grandchildren, Michelle, Ricky, Jerry and Jacob; four great-grandchildren, D.J., Audrianna, Charles and Sariana; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Fred Smith officiating. Burial will be private.
