Socrates Sabater

Socrates Sabater, 85, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. A native of Baymo, Cuba, he was an expatriate who migrated to America in 1960 at the onset of the Cuban Revolution. Mr. Sabater and his family settled in Chattanooga after obtaining citizenship in the U.S. He worked as a draftsman and architect in Chattanooga before establishing his own architecture firm in Chattanooga known as Planning Associates. Mr. Sabater was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents, Socrates and Quelita Sabater. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Olga Sabater. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Charlie Burton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Feb. 25, 2014, from 4-7 p.m. with a rosary service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, 930 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN 37415, Siskin Hospital, One Siskin Plaza, Chattanooga, TN 37403, or a charity of ones choice.
