Jack Baker Sr.

Jack Carl Baker Sr. passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014. He was born March 14, 1923 and was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. He was affiliated with the trucking industry for over 35 years. Mr. Baker served his country during World War II with the First and Third Armies at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Baker was of the Christian faith. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Jessie Baker; his wife of 62 years, Roberta; and infant son, Bradford. Survivors include one sister, Alice (Eldon) Hart; three children, Sandra, Jack Jr. (Stephanie) and Robin (Sally) Baker, all of Chattanooga; three grandchildren: Tara (Lawrence "Chip") Phillips of Hixson, Dustin Baker and fiance Whitney Larson, of Portland, Ore., and Brent Baker and wife, Saara Haapanen, of Denver, Colo.; two great-grandchildren, Claudia and Quade Phillips, of Hixson. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. today, Feb. 26, 2014, in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Ron Johnson, Loren Spellman, and Donald Ferguson officiating. Pallbearers include Eldon Hart, Tommy Hart, Lance Richie, Jeff Heiser, Chip Phillips and Bill Sparks.
