James "Hoss" Burnum Whitt, 65, assed away on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Lookout Mountain, Ga., and was of the Baptist faith. James served his country in the U.S. Army and retired from U.S. Pipe and Foundry in 1990 after 22 years. He was a loving father, brother and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. James was preceded in death by his parents, James Andrew and Lovee McClendon Whitt. He is survived by his children, Jamie Whitt, of Lookout Mountain, and Jason (Jessica) Whitt, of Murfreesboro; siblings, Jean Dangler, Freddy Whitt and Pamela Gosnell; grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan, Jesse and Chasity; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today and all day on Thursday with a memorial service in the parlor starting at 6:30 p.m. for family and friends. Arrangements by W.L.
