Dennis Benson

Dennis Edwin Benson, 72, of Ooltewah, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014. Born in Waterloo, Iowa, on May 19, 1941, he worked in the Yellow Page Business for over 20 years and also served as general manager of Consolidated Directories of Effingham, Ill., for eight years. A member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, he was a loving father and husband and loved to fish and golf. He was the son of the late Orlin and Joyce Benson. Survivors include his wife, Ann Benson; three sons, Joe Benson and Sam Benson, both of Chattanooga, and Jim Benson, Spotsylvania, Va.; three daughters, Vickie Day and Lisa Bocquin, Kansas City, Kan., and Stephanie Hernandez, Chicago, Ill.; sister Ramona Riedel; and brother, Mike Benson, Gurley, Ala.; eight grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held Friday in the Valley View Chapel with Pastor Dale Barnhurst officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions may be made to the Adventist Development Organization in memory of Dennis E. Benson.
