Elsie Harrell, 80, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014. She was born in Gadsden, Ala., on Aug. 19 of 1933. Elsie was an unselfish, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family or enjoying being outside working in her yard. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Walker Harrell; son, James Furman Cox; mother, Mammie Lee Johnson; father, Wiley Calvin Pitts; and siblings, Keith Pitts, Margaret Holloway and Frances Bishop. Elsie is survived by her siblings, Barbara Ann (Tony) Pitts, Audrey Brothers and W.C. Pitts; her son, Rick (Arlene) Cox; and her daughter, Debbie (Rusty) Massengale; as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as follows: Melissa (Paul) Duncan, Eric, Tehya and John; Jason (Pilar) Harness, Brodie and Alayna; Miranda Henderson, Cassie and Rah-leigh; Justin (Karrie) Harness, Olivia and Owen; Lynde (Rusty) Thompson, Masen; Dustin Hayes. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, in the Funeral Home Chapel with Brian Smith officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday Feb. 28, 2014, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
