Marvin "Big Whop" Parker Jr., 44, of Chattanooga, transitioned peacefully at his childhood home on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Sarah Parker Sr.; stepfather, Leroy Williams Sr.; stepbrother, Leroy Williams Jr.; stepsister, Delaney Harris; and brother-in-law, Joaquin Black Varner. Survivors include his sisters, Cynthia Loyd, Linda Black, Iris (Lee) Jiles, Ruby Parker, and Annette (Maurice Sr.) Thompson; stepsisters, Diane Lemon, Deborah Moore, Charlotte Cosby and Della Darby; stepbrother, Alfred Williams; aunts, Carrie Foster of Chattanooga, Gloria Lloyd, of Marietta, Ga., and Carolyn Lloyd, of Birmingham, Ala.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; special friends, Terrance "Yank" Middlebrooks, Gorman McKeldin, Robert Swafford, The Carroll/Marshall Family, The Calloway Family, and many other friends. The body will lie-in-state today after 1 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Dr. Andrew J. Bullard III as the eulogist. Burial: Forest Hills Cemetery.
