Mary Snipes

Mary Emma Prince Snipes, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014. She was a devoted wife and mother, and an excellent seamstress and cook. She was also active in her church and home demonstration clubs. She was a member of the 1st Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. Born May 6, 1923 in Sewanee, Tenn., she was preceded in death by her parents, William Jessie and Bessie Long Prince; brothers, Grady Leon and William Robert Prince. Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, James D. Snipes; son, James Dwight (Daisy) Snipes Jr., Chattanooga; son Randall (Sherrie) Snipes, Knoxville; grandchildren, Lauren Snipes, Tampa Fla., William Randall Snipes, Knoxville and Meredith Snipes, Washington D.C. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, in the funeral home chapel. A private graveside service will be held later. Special thanks to the Martin Boyd Christian Home and Consulate Health Care of Chattanooga staffs for their professional and personal loving care during her extended illness.
