Mary Snipes

Mary Emma Prince Snipes, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014. She was a devoted wife and mother, and an excellent seamstress and cook. She was also active in her church and home demonstration clubs. She was a member of the 1st Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. Born May 6, 1923 in Sewanee, Tenn., she was preceded in death by her parents, William Jessie and Bessie Long Prince; brothers, Grady Leon and William Robert Prince. Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, James D. Snipes; son, James Dwight (Daisy) Snipes Jr., Chattanooga; son Randall (Sherrie) Snipes, Knoxville; grandchildren, Lauren Snipes, Tampa Fla., William Randall Snipes, Knoxville and Meredith Snipes, Washington D.C. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, in the funeral home chapel. A private graveside service will be held later.
