Virginia True

Virginia D. True, 82, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. A longtime resident of Spring City, Va., was the daughter of the late Rev. James and Lucinda Phillips Davis. She was a graduate of Spring City High School. Virginia attended Spring City United Methodist Church for many years and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Spring City. An avid U.T. fan, she was a season ticket holder with both football and the Lady Vols. Along with her traveling companions, Juanita Lyons, Gretchen Smith and Doris Cameron, Virginia visited every state in the union except for Alaska and Hawaii. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Miller True; brothers James P. Davis, Charles Davis and Floyd W. Davis; and sisters Louise Davis Caves and Betty Davis Merriman. Survivors include her daughters, Diane (Chris) Riggs, Jerrie (Billy Ray) Patton, Cindy (Greg) Hill and Andrea True, all of Spring City; grandchildren, Steven Cox, Tiffany Ciero, Bethany Bernhardt and Peyton Hill; and one great-grandchild, Dominic Ciero. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Spring City United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Wyrick, Rev. Tommy Cochran and Rev. Jonathan Jouben officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Spring City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
