Irene keck

Irene Keck, "Mamaw", left her earthly home on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, for her heavenly home. She was welcomed home by Daddy, Keith, Ronnie, Tim, and all of her other relatives who had gone home before her. What a reunion they had. Irene was born in Oakdale, Tenn., on July 24, 1927. Her mom and dad were Jerry and Vinnie Ooten. She lived most of her life in Chattanooga. Her last years were spent surrounded by family. She loved her family and friends dearly. You never had to wonder about how Mamaw felt about things. She would tell you whether you wanted to know or not. That is what people loved about her. She was honest. After her husband, Harvey Keck, died of a massive heart attack 1962, she raised six children alone. She never missed a payment on anything, and we never missed a meal. What wonderful meals she cooked. She was the best mother. Irene had six children, Wayne (Gail) Keck, Carol Lewis, Larry (Brenda) Keck, Vivian (Larry) Biddle, Ronnie (Connie) Keck, Lois (Greg) Steadman; 18 grandchildren. She also had many nieces and nephews. She left this world blessed by her Savior and Heavenly Father and left us blessed because we were loved by Mamaw. The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway with the Rev. Tommy Messer officiating. Burial will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Friends may visit www.heritagefh.com to share condolences with the family. Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefield Parkway.
