Wanza Lee

Wanza Lee, 71 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 6, 2013. He was born March 3, 1942 in Hogansville, Ga., to the late William and Maude Lee. He was a 1960 graduate of Howard High School and was instrumental in organizing the local civil rights movement including the Woolworths peace sit-in. He was a lifelong member of Phillips Temple AME. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jimmy Lee, Wayne Lee, Tyrone Lee; and sister, Juanita Lee Lemon. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol; daughter, Tara Lee; son, Dinson Lee; and beloved granddaughter, Bailey Maude Lee, all of Chattanooga; siblings, William (Lolita) Lee, Fai (Terry) Smith and Denson Lee, all of Chattanooga; nieces, nephews; a host of family and friends; friend and mentor, Dr. Herman F. Bostick, of Washington, DC. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or to your favorite charity in his name. Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, in the Chapel with Dr. Herman C. Bostick officiating. Interment in National Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 57 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
