Eva Jane Smith, 72, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 in a local hospital. She was employed by Memorial Hospital and retired after 30 plus years of service. She was a faithful member of Rock Island Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and Women's Guild. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Ann Pillows; brothers, Willie Mayweather and Tommy Mayweather; grandson, Jeremiah McMillon; great-grandson, Jeremy McMillon; and great-granddaughter, Chada Walker. Survivors include three daughters, Alberta (Johnny) Williams, Darlene Davis, and Tammy (Michael) Franklin; four sons, Lester Mayweather, Charles Mayweather, Jimmy (Betty) Franklin, and Clifford Pillows all of Chattanooga; two sisters, Lonnie Mae (James) Tucker and Annie White; three brothers, Walter (Mable) Mayweather, Willie (Gail) Mayweather both of Chattanooga, and Bobby Mayweather of Birmingham, Ala.; 33 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; special aunt, Mollie Abernathy; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. The body will lie-in-state today after 12:30 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday at Noon at Rock Island Baptist Church with Reverend Ronald Cook as the eulogist. Burial: Highland Memorial Gardens.
