James M. Sharpe, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Erlanger. James was a lifelong resident of Rhea County, was active in the McDonald and Bimbos singing, was retired from TVA as a boiltermaker. A member of the Dayton Masonic Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion. She was preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur and Effie Montgomery Sharpe; his wife, Betty Dillard Sharpe; a son, James Ronald Sharpe; two brothers. Survivors: a son, Steve (Dale) Sharpe, of Dayton; a daughter, Carmen Sharpe, of Dayton; two grandchildren, Jason Sharpe, of Austin Texas, Cory (Jamee) Sharpe, of Soddy-Daisy; two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Sydney Sharpe; several nieces and nephews. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Carroll and Rev. Bill Ewing officiating. Burial in Rhea Memory Gardens.
