Kyle Shirley Sr., 75, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and north Georgia areas, he was a retired machinist with T.V.A. with more than 20 years of service and was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Shirley was a lifelong Tennessee Vols fan and rarely missed a game until his health declined. His love for his family and the gift of helping others unselfishly made his life complete. He was an avid golfer and could be found on the greens of Brown Acres whenever possible. Mr. Shirley was a member of the American Legion and served his country in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hester and Florence Shirley; sister, Katherine Smith; and brothers, Ralph and Joe Shirley. Left to cherish his memory is his son and daughter-in-law, Kyle Shirley Jr., and Ronda; grandchildren, Josh, Brianna and Andrew Shirley; great-grandson, Aiden Shirley; sisters, Mary Ann Casper and Barbara Wagner; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at in the South Crest Chapel with burial to follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
