Bernard Hundley Sr.

Frank Bernard Hundley Sr. died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at his residence. Bernard was a lifetime resident of Chattanooga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Irene Lawson Hundley; and stepgrandson, Wesley Steele. Bernard graduated 1945 from Baylor Military Academy, UTC 1947 with a degree in pre-pharmacy classes; 1950 graduated from UT Memphis with a degree in pharmacy. He worked with his father, Don, who was also a pharmacist at the Court House Pharmacy. In 1960 they established Hundley Pharmacy in Plaza North in Red Bank. He sold the store in 1974 and then went to work for Erlanger Hospital where he served in positions of staff pharmacist, interim director and chief pharmacist of T. C. Thompson pharmacy. He retired Jan. 19, 1996 after 21 years of faithful service. He served in the USA Navy 1945, he and his ship mates were ready to head out for WWII when it ended just before they left port. He was discharged in 1947 when he started back to school. Bernard was a long time member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Brenda Cunningham Hundley; sons, Frank Bernard (Pam) Hundley Jr., Don (Jaton) Hundley, Alan (Tracy) Hundley, all of Chattanooga; stepdaughter, Teresa (Glenn) Rollins, of Soddy-Daisy; grand-children, Eleanor Hundley, of Atlanta, Kathryn Hundley Wood, of Cleveland, Tenn., Sarah, Jon and Alex Hundley; step-granddaughter, Ashley Steele, all of Chattanooga. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Jared Officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at Lane Funeral Home.
