Vicki Acres

Vicki Lynn Allen Acres, 60, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. She had lived in the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas for most of her life and was a member of Calvary Memorial Baptist Church. She had previously attended and was on staff at Oakwood Baptist Church in Chickamauga where she was instrumental in starting and running Oakwood Christian Academy and was the director of the Childrens Department at Oakwoods Gateway Campus. She retired from the United States Postal Service in 2000 after more than 20 years of service and was also a Christian Counselor with the Northwest Georgia Baptist Association, Bottom Line Counseling. She loved spending time with children, especially her grandchildren and enjoyed camping. She participated in many short term Mission Trips to Congo & Burkina Faso, Africa, Alaska, Jamaica and several domestic mission trips. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Minnie Allen. Survivors include her loving husband of more than 41 years, Rev. Boo Acres, of Rossville; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Rando (Amanda) Acres, of Monroe, Ga.; three brothers, Tommy Allen, of Centre, Ala., Steve Allen, of Boise, Idaho and Michael Allen, of Sachse, Texas; three sisters, Sally Knowles, of Chattanooga, Cheryl Vernon, of Chattanooga, and Debbie Fugate, of Sale Creek, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Ryleigh Lynn, Avery and Aligrace Acres; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with the Rev. Boo Acres and Rev. Rando Acres officiating. Burial will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Online guestbook available at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com.
