Barry Coulter

James Barry Coulter, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014. He was 76 years old. Barry was born in Baltimore, Md., to the late Mary Lucille and Alexander Coulter. He graduated from Bristol High School in Bristol, Tenn., and East Tennessee State University. He served our country in the Marine Reserves. Barry was president of Steel Fabricating Industries, served as vice president of Pipe Alloy Fabrics and Bristol Metal and was a Business Agent for OPEIU Union and later served as their president. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Lucille Mahn. Barry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha Ann Armstrong Coulter; daughter and son-in-law, Cathleen Coulter (Kent) Collyer; grandchildren, Erin Colleen Mahn, Jake Davis Collyer and Sean Barry Collyer; sister, Margaret Boyes Coulter Ferrell, of Spartanburg, S.C.; and a brother, Michael Coulter and his wife, Mary Lee, of Miami Springs, Fla. A Mass of Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 930 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN 37415 with Father Charlie Burton officiating. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Barrys name to the American Heart Association, The Kidney Foundation, The Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Catholic Church.
