Dr. Ted Swingle

Dr. Theodore "Ted" M. Swingle Jr., 70, of Chattanooga, went to heaven on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. He was born on Jan. 30, 1943 to Theodore M. Swingle Sr. and Margueritte Rhea Swingle. He was a graduate of City High School in 1961, and then went on to receive his bachelors degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was in the insurance and Real Estate business for many years before earning his medical degree from The Santo Domingo University Medical School. He was a lifelong member of Red Bank Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Ted was an avid University of Tennessee football fan and brought much joy and love to his family and friends. He was preceeded in death by both of his parents and is survived by his wife, Libby Swingle; daughters, Lynn Swingle and Stefanie Swingle (Ron) Roberts; and granddaughter, Addison Foster; stepdaughter, Alice Wilhoit and stepsons, Jeff and Scott Wilhoit; and grandchildren, Kinsley, Lauren, Blake, and Paige; Brother, Charles Swingle; and sister, Maxine Swingle (Winfred) Billingsley; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and noon to 2 p.m. on Friday at Abbas House in Hixson. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 at Abbas House with Dr. Fred Steelman and Pastor Alan Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
