Mike Tedesco

Michael Carl Tedesco, of Signal Mountain, 65, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014 at 6:45 a.m. He was born July 15, 1948 in Omaha, Neb., to Elsie Viola Thorson and Fred Carl Tedesco who have preceded him in death. Mr. Tedesco grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1966. He earned a BA in business administration in 1970 from the University of Nebraska where he was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. Mike met his future wife where they were both working for an insurance company in Omaha, Neb. He was united in marriage to Joie Lee Ryan on Nov. 2, 1979, in Las Vegas, Nev. This union was blessed with one son, Jason Michael. Mike and Joie moved to Signal Mountain in July 2000. Mike retired from Unum in July 2010 after 10 years of service. He had worked in the insurance industry since 1970. Mike was a member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed golf, bowling, antiques and caring for his yard. He was a member of the Rapid Transit Mopar Club and owned a restored 1971 Dodge Challenger and an original 1966 Honda 160 motorcycle. Mike was an avid University of Nebraska football fan and retuned to Lincoln each fall for a Nebraska home game. He and Joie enjoyed traveling and were able to visit Sicily, England, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Canada, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii and 47 other states. Mike was a loving husband to his wife Joie, of 34 years as well as a loving and caring father to his son, Jason Michael Tedesco, MD (Crystal), of Sarasota, Fla., and daughter, Eryn Dyane Tedesco, of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He leaves one granddaughter, Brooklyn Grace, and one grandson, Matthew Ryan, children of Jason and Crystal. Eryn is expecting her first child and Mike's third grandchild in July. Mike is survived by one brother Fred (Angela), of Des Moines, Iowa; nieces, Kris Tedesco, of Encinitas, Calif.; Amy (Rich) Burdine, of Denver, Colo.; sister-in-law, Lila (Barry) McCammon, of Decatur, Ill.; nephews, Ryan (Renee) McCammon, of Mystic, Conn.; Jared (Jaymie) McCammon of Decatur, Ill.; great-nephews, Alex (sons of Ryan and Renee); Max, (son of Jared and Jaymie), great-niece, Gwen (daughter of Ryan and Renee). He was deeply loved and will be forever missed. Mike is also survived by cousins, Terry Tedesco, of Omaha, Neb.; Paul Di Bono, of Bonita Spring, Fla.; Dick Burroughs, of Omaha, Neb., and Charles Tedesco, of Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be at Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace in Red Bank, from 6-8 p.m. today, Jan. 22. Funeral services will be at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, 612 James Boulevard, Signal Mountain, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, with Dr. Dudley officiating in Marr Chapel. Visitation with family will be one hour before the service in The Greeting Room Private burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
