Alpheus Grist Jr.

Alpheus C. Grist Jr., 76, of Signal Mountain, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2014. Al was born in Chattanooga where he graduated from The McCallie School and was a 1961 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. Al worked as a mechanical engineer at Davies Engineering of Chattanooga. He was a member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, where he had served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher. Al is survived by his loving wife, Carol Hooks Grist; son, Alan (Cerise) Grist, of Ringgold, Ga.; and daughter, Erin (Brian) May, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Alan Jr. and Sara. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Al's name to Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church or The House, UTC campus ministry, 650 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. today at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace and Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church with Memorial Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. with Dr. William Dudley officiating.
