Jimmy Espy

Jimmy "Jim" Bryant Espy, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014. Jim was very rich and deep in his Baptist faith. He attended the Mount Carmel Church and Cassandra Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Jim retired from Eastern Air Lines with 25 years of service and later became well known around the tri-state area for Flight Instruction. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Lilla Espy, of Chickamauga; daughter, Diane and her husband, Hillary Dean, of Oklahoma; sons, Doug and David James Espy and his wife, Dee, of Cloudland, Ga.; sister, Carolyn Boatman and her husband, Homer, of East Ridge; half sisters, Joyce Griffies and Judy Espy, both of Rome; half brother, Gilbert Espy and his wife, Sandi, of Dawsonville, Ga.; grandchildren, Nathaniel Espy and Rachelle Dean; and niece, Christina Witt also survive. Funeral from the Wallis Memorial Chapel at noon Wednesday with Pastor Glenn Roberts officiating. Interment in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
