Harold Knox Sr.

Harold R. Knox Sr., 91, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Rhea Medical Center. Born in Robertston County, Tenn., Harold was the son of the late Odell and Mae Denney Knox. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Corp and served his country during World War II. Harold worked for the Corp of Engineers as a lock operator and retired after 36 years, last working at the Watts Bar Lock. After retirement, he worked on the visitation staff of Vaughn Funeral Home. Harold was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spring City for over 40 years where he served as deacon, trustee and on many committees. He was preceded in death by his sister Helen Smith and brother Ray Knox. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Nancy Nicholson Knox, of Spring City; daughter Donna (Lonnie) Craft, of Soddy Daisy; son Randy (Donna) Knox, of Spring City; brother Howard "Billy" Knox, of Knoxville; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A celebration of Harold's life will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Spring City with Rev. Brian Price officiating. Military honors will also be presented. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.
