Elmer Clayton

Elmer L. Clayton, of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014. He was 90 years old. Elmer was born in Athens, Tenn., and served our country as a decorated World War II, U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Dixie Yarns with over 40 years of service. Elmer was a charter member of the John Henry Pierce Masonic Lodge #752 F&AM for over 65 years. He was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church in Claxton, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Pauline Clayton. Elmer is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Joan Clayton; grandson, Jonathan and his wife, Kristy and their son, Andon Clayton. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today and again on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the North Chapel. Masonic graveside services for Elmer will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with John Henry Pierce Masonic Lodge conducting the Masonic Service. The family would like to thank the staff at Saint Barnabas Nursing Home for the love and care given to Elmer during his stay at the facility. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Elmers name to the John Henry Pierce Masonic Lodge at 96 Santeelah St., Chattanooga, TN 37415.
