Grady Leslie Collins, 73, originally from Hattiesburg, Miss., died on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, in Chattanooga. Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents, J.L. and Berta Collins. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca C. Collins,of Hattiesburg; daughter Deborah (Don) Leland, of Petal; son Dean Collins, of Ooltewah; sister Bonita (Carey) Howard, of Purvis; brother Gerald Collins, of Hattiesburg; sister Becky (Floyd) Bush, of Hattiesburg; four grandchildren, Tony (Krystal) Leland, of Petal, Michelle Leland, of Hattiesburg, Alyson Collins and Rachel Collins, of Ooltewah; one great-grandchild, Lexi Leland, of Petal; and a number of nieces and nephews. He served his country in the United States Navy while stationed in San Diego, Calif. He received his bachelors degree in banking and binance from San Diego State University, and his masters degree in Student Personnel Services from The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. He worked in the financial aid office at The University of Southern Mississippi before becoming the director of financial aid at The University of South Alabama and later as director of financial aid at Chattanooga State Community College.
