Bert Lambert

"Bert"Lambert LAWRENCEVILLE Bertha ("Bert") York Lambert, 96, the sixth of 15 children born to Arch and Ruth York, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Gwinnett Medical Center, Lawrenceville, Ga. She was born February 19, 1918. She worked at Riegel Textile in Trion for many years and at the shirt factory in LaFayette before moving to Atlanta. She worked at General Motors in Doraville until returning to Chattooga County to care for her mother until her death in 1989. She loved to sew, quilt, crochet, was a wonderful cook, but her passion was working in her flowers. Her yard was always beautiful but especially in the spring. In later years she enjoyed watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune and Price is Right. Bertha was preceded in death by Marvin (Jay) Lambert; her parents, Arch and Ruth York; brothers, Artie, Dallas (Buddy), Bill, Lonnie, Gordon, Alvin, Roy and Jimmy; and sisters, Virgie Coker, Maggie Brown, Hattie McConnell, Ava York, Maebell Pilgrim; and granddaughter, Debbie Smith Truelove. She is survived by her three children, Janey (Ben) Smith, Gainesville, Ga., Marvin Jerry (Debbie) Lambert, Buford, Ga. and Rick (Rhonda) Lambert, Buford, Ga.; brother, Gene York, LaFayette, Ga., nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and special nephew, Tommy Purcell of Jacksonville, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, in the chapel of Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette, Ga., with her nephew, Minister Terry York, officiating. Interment at Macedonia Cemetery, Teloga, Ga. Visitation at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today, July 1. WallisWilbanks Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
