Don Garrett

Robert "Don" Garrett, 86, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday June 28, 2014. He served the Chattanooga Police Department for 33 1/2 years, retiring as Sergeant, and then worked for the U.S. Marshals service for 16 years. Don was a member of FOP, Tennessee Law Enforcement Officers Association, and attended the Chattanooga First Church of Nazarene. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Miles D. and Maude Garrett; brother, Miles D. Garrett Jr.; and sisters, Evelyn Williams and Alice Lawrence. He is survived by wife, Barbara Garrett; son, Robb Garrett; brother, Dave Garrett; sisters, Betty Scoggins, Norma Hitt of Chattanooga, Linda Cook of Wisconsin, Peggy Ledford of Knoxville, Mary Jo Gasior of California; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Patsy Quinn; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Chattanooga on 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tenn., or First Church of the Nazarene, North Terrance. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Andrus and Rev. Eric Johnson officiating. Nephews will be serving as pallbearers.
