J. C. Shirley

James Charles "J. C." Shirley, 88, of Hixson, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014. He was a retiree of Dupont with over 38 years of service. J. C. was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church. His sons, Gary and James Lee Shirley, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Sue Shirley, of Hixson; brothers, Harold (Linda) and Hoyt (Sarah) Shirley, of Whitwell; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. EDT Thursday, at Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, with Rev. Reed Shell officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. EDT Thursday in Sardis Cemetery on Old Highway 27 between Whitwell and Jasper.
