Jessie Hawkins

Jessie Faye Hawkins, 85, of the Davis community of Trenton, won the Battle of Life at her home on Sunday, July 6, 2014. She was a member of Griffin Holiness Church on Lookout Mountain, Ga. She loved cooking and caring for her children and grandchildren. She love sewing, crocheting, knitting, and wood crafting. She loved animals, flower gardens, and painting pictures. She was a kind, loving, compassionate listener, a caregiver to the sick, and a friend to those in need. She was preceded by her parents, James William and Emily Idella Duke Gray Carter; an infant daughter, Sharon Ann; a grandson, Randall L. Black; and a son-in-law, Gayron L. Smith. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, William Eskell Hawkins; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Black (Shelton), Ider, Ala., Sandra Pritchett (Skeeter), Diane Robinson (John), all of Trenton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edgar Hawkins (Loretta), Trenton, Michael Hawkins (Denise), Bryant, Ala.; 34 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law; Marie Dobbs, Piedmont, Ala., and Ola Evers (also special caregiver) Bryant; special friend and caregiver, Sybil Chapman, Trenton. Funeral services are Tuesday, July 8, at 2 p.m. EDT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Brother Wayne Guffey, Brother Shirley Byrum and Brother Edwin Spurgin officiating. Burial to follow in Bryant cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1-9 p.m. EDT today, July 7, and 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
