Jack Evans

Jack Howard Evans, 84, passed away at his residence on Monday, July 7, 2014. Mr. Evans was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockwood, Rockwood Lodge #403 F&AM, and Carpenters Union Local #50, Knoxville, Tenn. Howard was retired from TVA- Kingston Steam Plant with 29 years' service. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, where he was a Machine Gun Unit Leader, and served on the front lines of the Korean War. An Expert Marksman, he taught small arms fire at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.. He was also a well-known Fast-Pitch Softball Pitcher. But to Howard, his greatest accomplishment was being a papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Mayme Evans; son-in-law, W. Duane Niles; brothers, Bob Evans, Edward Evans, Ray Claude (Gladys) Evans, George (Maggie) Evans; brothers-in-law, Leon Battles, Carl "Wimp" Winters; sisters-in-law, Louise, Billie and Betty Evans. He is survived by wife, Virginia W. Evans, of Rockwood, Tenn.; daughter, Carol Evans Niles, of Temecula, Calif.; son, H. Eddie Evans, of Athens, Ala.; son, Barry W. Evans (Robin), of Hixson; daughter, Carla E. McCuiston (Kevin), of Rockwood, Tenn.; grandchildren, Ashley Ava Niles, Jacob R. Evans (Megan), Lauren W. Evans, Amy E. Evans, Ashton B. Evans, Kevin Lee McCuiston II (Sarah B.), Christen McCuiston, Caleb McCuiston (Hannah S.), Kyle McCuiston, Collin McCuiston; great-grandchildren, Caroline McCuiston, Ellison McCuiston; sister, Mary Battles, of Rockwood, Tenn.; brothers, James M. Evans, of Rockwood, Frank Evans (Irene) of Rockwood, Charles "Buster" Evans, of Rockwood, Walter Evans of Kingston, Tenn., Wayne Evans (Helen) of Brandon, Fla.; sister-in-law, Virginia T. Evans, of Rockwood.; host of nieces, nephews and friends in the Community Mr. Evans was a faithful husband, a loving father, and the best papaw in the whole world. Arrangements are as follows: Friday, July 11, 2014 at Evans Mortuary of Rockwood, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral will Follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Marty Shadoan, officiating. Concluding services and interment will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood with full Military Honors by U.S. Marines. Evans Mortuary is serving the Family of Mr. Jack Howard Evans.
