Darrell McCarthy

Darrell McCarthy, of Ooltewah, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born Aug. 4, 1945 in Maryville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Louise McCarthy; his brother, Gerald; his sister, Gail. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharron; his daughter and her husband, Konnie and John Jones; his two grandchildren, "the lights of his life," Jarron and Sarah Jones; and his sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Frank Carpenter. Darrell owned and operated McCarthy Trucking Company for 20 years. He was a retired commercial pilot, a retired Air National Guard for McGee Tyson in Knoxville. He was a Mason since 1976. Darrell was an avid pilot, hunters and local car show enthusiast. He proudly displayed his black 66 Chevelle. He loved life, his family, friends and his little white dog, Doodles. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at the Historic James County Courthouse in Ooltewah.
