MaLakia Foster-Sivel

s MaLakia LaShundra Foster-Sivels, 35, was born on March 2, 1979 in Chattanooga, to LaVonza Foster-Barnes and Michael Sivels. On Monday, July 7, 2014 the Lord called her home to eternal rest. She was baptized at an early age at Greater Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church where she continued to be an active member under the leadership of Pastor Maurice Gilchrist. MaLakia attended Chattanooga (City) High School and enjoyed family, friends and food. She was a Sickle Cell patient who loved life. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Rudolph Foster Sr. and Homer Sivels; aunt, Renee Foster; uncle, Kenneth Sivels. MaLakia leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, LaVonza Barnes (Curtis) and her father, Michael Sivels Sr. (LaTina); her three grandmothers, Daisy Foster, Sarah Sivels and Alma Barnes; her eight sisters, LaToya Sivels (Dewayne), Lakisha Foster (Edward), Tara McDonald (Chris), Andrea Houston, Tiffany Houston, Kiamina Sivels-Jackson (Adam), Mikel Sivels, and Nikia Barnes; her three brothers, Michael Sivels Jr., Brandon Barnes and Andre Foster; uncles, Rudolph Foster Jr. (Pamela) and Darren Foster; aunts, Sharon Heath, Sandra Sanders (Johnny), and Carol Jean Jordon; a devoted cousin, Joanna McKibben-Fisher (Will); and a loving host of great-uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Greater Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2616 Long Street, Chattanooga, TN 37408 with Pastor Steve Gilchrist officiating. Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 78 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
