Debbie Gass

Debbie Gass Debra "Debbie" Lynn Gass, 56, of Chattanooga, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, July 11, 2014, surrounded by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sammie and Clara Wilson, Arthur and Zula Pyle. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, David Randall Gass; daughters, Kerri, Kayla, and Katie; parents, Albert and Barbara Wilson; sisters, Donna (Daniel) Blake and Diana (Tony) Brown; mother-in-law, Lila Jean Gass; nieces and nephews, Summer (Jeremy) Stephens, Aaron Brown, Amanda (Scott) Tanner, Justin Gass, Leslie Gass, Nikki McRae, LaShawn Castings, and Tabitha Gass. Debbie was a longtime resident of Chattanooga. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, at Sheppard Air Force Base, on August 29, 1957. She was a former member of Lakeview First Baptist Church and a current member of Ridgedale Baptist Church. Debbie was a graduate of Lakeview Fort-Oglethorpe High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Trevecca Nazarene University. She was also a member of the United States Army Reserve. For 30 years, Debbie was an 8th-grade math teacher at Ooltewah Middle School. She was not only an educator to her students, but their advocate and biggest supporter. Debbie spent her favorite days sitting by her pool, with her family, friends, and her dogs, GiGi and Grady. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care for our mother. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Ridgedale Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Owens and Dr. Leroy Spinks officiating. The interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Aaron Brown, Eric Holtzhower, Jeremy Stephens, Tony Brown, Ted Gass, Tom Moore. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Debra Lynn Gass Memorial Fund, 314 Osborne Drive Chattanooga, TN 37421.
