Jan Buckner

Jan Edgemon Buckner, 57, a longtime resident of Cleveland, passed away on Wednesday morning, July 9, 2014, at her home following a year long illness. Jan was born in Sweetwater, Tenn., Dec. 13, 1956 a daughter of the late K.G. and Mable Edgemon. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland. Jan worked for many years as a radiology technologist specializing in mammography where she helped many women through difficult times in their lives. She enjoyed visits from her Bible study group and her many friends. In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her daughter Shipley Rose Buckner. Jan leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Brandon Buckner, of Cleveland; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Kenneth Barnett, of Kingston, Tenn., Anna Jean and Bobby Roberts, of Decatur, Tenn., Alice and Johnny Powell, also of Decatur, Tenn., and Libby and Dave Gregory, of Cleveland; one brother and sister-in-law, Butch and Debbie Edgemon, of Ten Mile, Tenn. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends. A celebration of her life is planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the First Baptist Church located at 1275 Stuart Road NE in Cleveland, with the Rev. Jim Gibson and Dr. Shane Roberts officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Library in Jans memory.
