James Vice Sr.

James Christopher Vice Sr. also known as Jim, Big Jim, Uncle Jim, Granddad and Papa died on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the age of 80 from an accident on his farm, doing what he enjoyed, tending his cattle. He was an eternal optimist who loved life, loved his family and loved living on his farm and raising cattle. He was born July 8, 1934, in Pell City, Ala., to Hollie and Elene Vice. He retired several years ago from his lifetime trade as a contractor. He was a member of Trenton United Methodist Church. He was looking forward to a joyous reunion in heaven with his first wife of 42 years, Reita Williams Vice; his daughter, Beth Peers; and his second wife of 18 years, Ella Mae Lusk Vice. He is survived by his children, Jim (Pam) Vice Jr., Leisa (Mark) Cagle, Darla Christopher, Rodney Vice, Billy (Teresa) Peers; grandchildren, Jennifer (Clint) Cobb, Zach (Hali) Vice, Rodney (Beth) Vice, Justin (Allison) Vice, Erin (Nathan) Leverett, Lindsay (Michael) Miller, Bradley Christopher, Jay Peers, Paul Peers, Haleigh Peers, Cade Vice; brothers, Bill (Doris) Vice, Bobby (Shirley) Vice, Hugh (Sandy) Vice, Joe (Debbie) Vice; sisters, Margaret (Malone) Daughtery, Sheila Fandrick; great-grandchildren, Leah Faye Cole, Jonathan Leverett, Summer Cobb, Waylon Vice, Tsali Vice, Maggie Miller, Creek Vice. He is also survived by very special family members, Crystal Zheng, Jesse Chen and Karen Zheng. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. EDT Tuesday, July 15, in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Reece Fauscett officiating. Burial will be held in the Vice Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday 4-8 p.m. today, July 14, and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Trenton United Methodist Church.
