Bill Avans

John Franklin "Bill" Avans, 72, passed away, Friday, July 18, 2014. He worked 28 years at Wheland Foundry, Chattanooga,and eight years at KENCO. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Bill was a United States Army Vietnam veteran and member of American Legion Post # 106. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and flea markets. He was preceded in death by his parents, John "Cad" and Erma Avans, and sister, Aline Hall. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Alpha Avans; daughter, Tracey Avans; grandchildren, Jarrod Brown, Joshua Brown and Shane Osburn; two special friends, Morgan and Jax; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held noon EDT Tuesday, July 22, in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Billy Wallace officiating. Interment will be held 1:30 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11 a.m.-8 p.m. today, July 20, then 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday.
