Col. Edward Bolen

Col. Edward Snow "Ted" Bolen USAF (Ret.), 75, entered into rest on Monday, July 21, 2014. Ted was born on Oct. 17, 1938 in Chattanooga, to the late William Edward and Attlie Snow Bolen. With pride and honor, he served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was the Wing Commander of the Transport Unit. Ted retired with the prestigious rank of Colonel. After his military retirement, he worked for the Houston County Board of Education teaching speech and language for special education at Northside Elementary and Houston County High School. He was a graduate of Auburn University and avid fan of the Tigers. Ted attended all of their home and bowl games. He was also able to attend the 2010 National Championship Game. He later earned a masters degree from The University of Oklahoma. Ted's memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 15years, Gerry Bolen, of Warner Robins; children, Barbara Bolen Branden, of Warner Robins and William C. Bolen, of Chattanooga; stepchildren, Jana Hall Purvis, of Macon, Dee Dee Smylie (Marvin), of Oviedo, Fla., and Christle Hall Spires (Randy), of Jeffersonville, Ga.; grandson, Adam Lucas III, (Lynae Radke), of Macon; great-grandson, Gryffin Lucas, of Macon; seven stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and former spouse, Frances Gregg Bolen, of Warner Robins. Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. Full Military Honors will be rendered at the graveside services at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. A funeral procession will depart from McCullough Funeral Home at 1:20 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in Colonel Bolen's honor to Tigers Unlimited, P.O.
