Dorothy Keith

Dorothy Rae Keith, 79, was born Feb. 12, 1935, in Bradley County to the late William H. Rogers and Elizabeth Julia Gash Rogers. She was called home by her Heavenly Father on July 19, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Keith; her sister, Evelyn Francis Tillery; and stepson, Buford Keith. She was also preceded in death by her beloved nephew, Paul Tillery. Dorothy retired from Cleveland Natural Gas after 24 years of service. She joined Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age and was a faithful lifelong member. She faithfully served her Lord and church family as a deaconess, Sunday school superintendent, trustee and missionary, she was also a member of the Aldersgate Garden Club of Cleveland and was a Matriarch of the Order of the Eastern Star. She leaves to cherish her sweet memories five children and their spouses, William "Bill" (Pamela) Rogers, Julia (Rev. William) Chandler, Rev. Charles (Belinda) Rogers, all of Cleveland, Preston Rogers (Linda) of Chattanooga, and Walter (Desha) Rogers a United States Navy Commander, Retired of Georgetown, Tenn. Grandchildren who will forever cherish her memories, Denise (Jeff) Talley, Tyron (Lisa) Rogers, Monica Rogers, Rev. William Anthony Rogers, Alphonso, Taylor and Ashanti Rogers, Alejandro Lopez and Mariela Brown. Great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Jaden Talley and Josiah Rogers. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Frank Tillery, Elizabeth (Roderick) McColley, Ellen Tillery, Nazir, John, Morris, Rodney and Yvette Keith. She is also cherished by a host of extended family including special cousins Brent and Robin Sanders, James "Mote" Cates; special friends include her Pastor Rev. Teresa Oglesby, longtime neighbor, Lillian Gaines, Azella Smith, Brenda Jarrett, Freddy Pugh, Sharon, Lauren and Donnell (Meagan) Goode. Her body may be viewed from 9 a.m. to until 7 p.m. today, July 23, 2014, at Patton Funeral Home Chapel 265 Fair St., S.E. Cleveland. Family will receive friends Thursday, July 24, from 11 a.m. until noon service time at Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 254 Dooley Street, Cleveland, Tenn. The Rev. Teresa Oglesby will be the Eulogist. Interment to follow at Fort Hill Cemetery, service to conclude with full white dove release.
