Joseph Careathers

Joseph Dennis Careathers, 69, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014. A graduate of Hill High School, he was a U.S.Army veteran. He attended Cove Road Church of God. Preceded in death by his parents, James Dennis and Esther Burse Careathers, and two brothers, Benny and Billy Careathers. Survived by daughters, Tammy C. Salters of Durham, N.C., and Tameka C. Hamler of Cincinnati, Ohio; sons, Frederick Careathers of Adairsville and Minister Paul (Johnequia)Careathers; uncles, J.L. (Flossie)Burse; James Burse, Lafayette, and Philip (Bertha)Burse, Fort Oglethorpe; aunts, Bessie Morris, Chattanooga, and Gustaivia Clemons of Kensington,Ga.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Cove Road Church of God with Minister Paul Careathers and Rev. Jerry L. Burse officiating. Visitation one hour before the service. Interment follows at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Arrangements by Willis Funeral Home Inc., Dalton.
