Joseph Mangano Sr.

Joseph Nicholas Mangano Sr., 91 , entered into eternal rest Friday, July 18, 2014, at McKendree Village, Hermitage, Tenn., after a brief illness. Joe was born April 14, 1923, in Syracuse, N.Y. He was a decorated WWII combat veteran with an extensive career in aviation. He will be missed by many because he was lovable, likeable, and was entertaining with all his stories and experiences. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Elizabeth Maddin Mangano, of Charlotte, N.C. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Ewton Mangano; son, Nick Mangano and wife, Sandi, of Hershey, Pa.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mildred Maddin Hopkins and Mary Ruth Dunleavy; brothers-in-law, Bill Maddin and Dan (Gail) Ewton; nieces, Rev. Sandy Shawhan and Joy Wedekind Hunter; nephew, Zack Parrish Jr.; five local nieces, two nephews and a special nephew, Howie (Donna) Ewton. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. CDT Saturday, Aug. 2, at McKendree Village Chapel, 4343 Lebanon Pike, Hermitage, Tenn. Interment will be Friday, Nov. 28, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville.
