Jo Allison

Evelyn Joyce "Jo" Allison, 69, a resident of Georgetown, passed away Thursday evening, July 24, 2014, in a Chattanooga hospital. Jo was retired from Jan Van Food where she served as cook for the cafeteria in Magic Chef for a number of years. She enjoyed watching NASCAR and tennis on television. Jo loved being a grandmother and she was a member of the Denny Hill Baptist Church in Harrison. Jo was the daughter of the late Sarah Harmon Marshall and Clarence Marshall. Her sisters, Virginia Shook, Shirley Lee and Norville Buchanan; her brothers, James Sutton and Billy Sutton; and her mother-in -law, Estelle Swafford; also preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Hack Allison of Georgetown; her daughter, Jennifer Elliott and her husband, Chris, also of Georgetown; her sons, Bo Allison and his wife Melissa, of Decatur; Robbie Powell and his wife, Nola, of Bradenton, Fla., her grandchildren, Michael Elliott, Hunter Elliott, Monica Allison, John Allison Jr., Jazmine Powell, Paula Powell, Matthew Mangone, Lisa Walton and Madelyn Eaton; her sisters, Linda Beavers of Harrison, Freida Stevison and her husband, Ronald, of Cleveland; and her special nieces and nephews, Harley Potts, Tommy Pruiett, Johnny Ray Goodner, Treba Higdon and Glenn Potts, also survive. The Remembrance of Life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. this afternoon, July 28, from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Rev. Fred Browning officiating. Interment will follow in the McInturf Cemetery in Meigs County with Rusty Hood, Shane Murphy, Kendal Clayton, Wayman Bickford, Billy Sutton and Jeremy Pruiett serving as casket bearers.
