Mel Holbrook

Melvin Gene "Mel" Holbrook Sr., 84, of Loudon, formerly of Chattanooga, and Tampa, Fla., passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014. He was born in Roanoke, Va. Mel graduated from Lakeview High School in Rossville, Ga. He served in the U. S. Air Force and Marine Corp. Mel retired from Anheuser Busch as a brew foreman where he worked for 28 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Libbie Holbrook McCain, and granddaughter, Rhonda Holbrook. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Rachel Mize Holbrook; children, Melvin Holbrook Jr. and wife, Sue Ann of Tennessee, Shela Schoenlein and husband, John of Brandon, Fla., Michael Holbrook and wife, Kim of Leesburg, Ga.; grandson, Matt Holbrook; granddaughters, Baylee Holbrook and Dawn Clark; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, London and Amber; and a sister, Sandra Holbrook of Huntington Beach, Calif.
