Edna Dout

Edna Carroll Harvey Dout, 79, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, while vacationing in Grand Lake Stream, Maine. Born in LaFayette, her family later moved to Lenoir City, Tenn. She graduated from Lenoir City High School in 1952. The following year she married Glenn Harvey and they lived together in Chickamauga until his passing in 1984. They were members of Fellowship Baptist Church in Chickamauga. Edna worked for many years as bookkeeper for Dr. Roy Pope in Chickamauga. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with family and friends who saw her welcoming house on Gordon Street as their home away from home and a port in any storm. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eulis Houston Carroll of Cleveland, Tenn., and Ruby Hicks Carroll Bradford of Rising Fawn, Ga.; brothers, James Lawrence Carroll, Benny Burt Carroll, Orville (Robin) Deforest Carroll, and Johnnie Wayne Carroll, all of the Walker County area. Edna is survived by her loving husband, Edward Scott Dout of Chickamauga; daughters Cindy Harvey Arnold and husband, Robert, of Chattanooga, Rebecca Harvey Lekowski and husband, Robert, of Boston, Mass.; son James Burt Harvey and his late wife, Deborah Hicks Harvey, of McDonough, Ga.; stepchildren, Jonathan Scott Dout of Marietta, Ga., and Patricia Elizabeth Kildoo of New Castle, Pa., and brother Jerry Steve Carroll and wife Fay of Long Beach, Calif.. She had four grandchildren; Benjamin Matthew Harvey and wife Erin of Marietta, Kyle Andrew Harvey of McDonough, Stephanie Amanda Arnold of Chattanooga, and Joshua Kildoo of New Castle, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Bennett Matthew Harvey of Marietta, Allison Rose Randall of Chattanooga, and Kage Wahl of McDonough. Edna is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Chickamauga City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until funeral time Friday at the funeral home.
