Opal Dowlen

Opal Stansbury Dowlen, 94, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014. She was born Jan. 27, 1920 to the late James and Hessie Stansbury. She lived most of her life in Chattanooga, but resided in Centre, Ala. for the past 14 years. Opal was a member of First Baptist Church in Centre. She was preceded in death by husband, Herman E. Dowlen. Survivors include her sister; Louise Upton, of Centre, Ala., and several extended family members and friends who loved her very much. The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. EDT today, July 30, at the North Chapel. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. EDT this afternoon, in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Rev.
