Betty Spurlock Stroud, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014. Betty was born in West Monroe, La., on Feb. 2, 1935, to the late Thomas and Arlie Spurlock. She graduated from West Monroe High School and received a bachelors degree from Northeast Louisiana University. She received her masters degree from LSU and her PH.D from the University of Illinois. She was a talented and acclaimed singer, pianist, choir director, musical theater director and actress, professor and administrator. Betty is survived by two children; Miranda Stroud, of Ringgold and Thomas (Toby) Stroud, of Chattanooga; daughter-in-law Karol Stroud, of Chattanooga. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Travis Stroud; Katie Stroud and Cole Dasinger. Memorial services will be private.
