Dr. Motilal Maurya

Dr. Motilal Maurya at 74, took his last breath on Thursday, June 5, 2014. Dr. Maurya is survived by his loving, supportive wife Shashi; dedicated children, Daisy Maurya-Smith, Rami and Chris McShane, Jyoti and Steve Brummerstedt, Jaya and Matt Whaley, Shipra Maurya and fianc, Bryan Raab; beloved grandchildren: Daevyn Smith, Aria and Jay Brummerstedt and two loving pets Ace Brummerstedt and Boogie McShane. He was the patriarch of the entire extended family and will be greatly missed by all, including his in-laws, the Dr. Vijay Maurya family and Achal Kushwaha family. Dr. Maurya left India at a young age to pursue his education in Germany and became a highly-accomplished, self-made man. Through his perseverance, and while always making sacrifices for the well-being of his family here and in India, Dr. Maurya earned two Masters Degrees. While building his family and with the unwavering support of his loving wife, Dr. Maurya also earned his Ph.D in coal mining and metallurgy. His wish for his loved ones was simple and beautiful - "be together, eat, drink and be merry!" Passionate as he was about food, he was also passionate about education and instilled a driving work ethic in his daughters. He loved walking on the beach to watch the sunrise, nurturing his garden, sharing stories and jokes with loved ones and volunteering within the community. He radiated love and light with with everyone he met. Dr. Maurya exemplified strength and honor not only to his family, but also to all those he worked with throughout his many years at TVA. He had unending love and devotion to his wife, Shashi. He left this world surrounded by family, knowing he was dearly loved by all those he touched.
