Marlene Goodman

Marlene Peters Goodman, 80, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at a local hospital. Born July 23, 1933, Mrs. Goodman was an active member of Parker's Gap Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed working with the youth, singing in the choir, and playing the piano. She was the office manager for the Operating Engineers in Chattanooga for 15 years. Marlene is preceded in death by her husband John "Johnny" H. Goodman Jr.; parents, Terrell and Mattie Mae Peters; sisters, Eva Mae Burnette, Mildred Crowe and Evelyn Joyce Touchstone; and brother, Edwin Peters. She is survived by her children, Mike (Cathy) Goodman and Janice Goodman Rogers; brother, Oliver Peters; grandchildren, Matthew (Chastity) Helton, Cara (Eric) Dietz, Dr. John Michael (Erin) Goodman, of Phenix City, Ala., Erin Hooper, Samantha Eacret, and Austin Goodman, of Nashville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Jason, John David and Jacey Mae Hooper, Alex Eacret, Cameron Mitchell, Abi Dietz, Nataly, Aubrey and Cady Helton, and Piper Caroline Goodman; as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lamar Dietz officiating. Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date.
